Borates are listed by the European Chemicals Agency, ECHA, as Substances of Very High Concern, CPL (The Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation ((EC) No 1272/2008) notified as “may damage fertility and the unborn child”.
Historically, boron derivatives have been the performing additive to secure gluing, quality and stable production of corrugated boards. Changes towards bor-free alternatives has up till now not been made, due to the lack of performing alternatives.
The Exilva Pure+ concept enables development of the production without the use of borates in the glue. The results so far are promising. The solution has the capability to be adapted to each single corrugator, as everyone’s glue kitchen, starch type and settings is different from the other. A low risk introductory test with on-site support from our specialist, can be the corrugators first step. This step shall provide you the confidence to develop regular production with the bor-free glue solution in the packaging.
